Forest of Gray City (Rank 2.5) (manhwa)

Publisher: Ice Kunion
Volumes: 2/2 (Complete), OOP but not hard to find
Shoujo
Genre: Romance

Summary: Yun-Ook Jang, 24, is a young freelance artist who is a bit broke. To pay her bills she advertises her spare room for a renter but no one is interested- except a good looking young guy, Bum-Moo Lee, she bumped into the other day. She begs him to take the room and he accepts. They start living together and then she finds out that despite how he looks he’s only 17! Still, the awkwardness of sharing an apartment with a stranger eventually settles into a comfortable routine, until one day he asks… “Do you mind if I like you?”

Review: This is kind of an unusual comic. I really thought that the art style and atmosphere felt like a good K-Drama, and there is some excellent chemistry between the two leads. Reading reviews, a lot of other readers also felt that way too. I also enjoyed the mix of the present day, showing their everyday lives and how they feel about it, and then a mix of the influence of the past- with both Bum-Moo’s tragic past, his step-sister and also Yun-Ook’s ex-boyfriend. You get a nice feel for where they are in their lives.

And then it ends very abruptly, with an unresolved open ending. I don’t regret reading it, but it really felt like the first 2 volumes of a 7 volume series.

Recommended: If you don’t mind a story that ends abruptly, then this is a good K-Drama like read with some unusually gorgeous artwork.

Age rating: PG13: A lot of smoking, drinking, and also some hints that Bum-Moo’s step sister might like him more than just a brother. But nothing particularly happens.
