Summary: I’e is on the bus home with his friend, Kazu, when suddenly everyone is knocked out with some kind of sleeping gas. He wakes up in a horrifying factory/farm where people are being processed into meat. He soon meets two other survivors, Natsune and Yamabiki and they try to escape the facility together. But soon they uncover a sinister alien plot that places the entire world in danger.
Review: This is some really extreme horror. This is by the same mangaka as Fort of Apocalypse, but honestly this makes Fort of Apocalypse look really tame in comparison. And the art style has gotten much more…. detailed.
There is a plot, but honestly, I feel more like it was written to string together as many different types of horror story scenarios as possible. It’s really got almost everything, extreme drugs, mind control, being skinned and eaten alive, rape (both male and female), human experimentation, praying mantis aliens, chest burster aliens, existential horror, and then because that all wasn’t disturbing enough there’s a graphic child molestation scene too, because why the hell not.
The actual plot with the alien's conspiracy is by itself, mostly a typical scifi invasion type story, but there were a few twists that made it more interesting. In particular the ending way that they decide to fight the aliens was... unique. Also horrifying, but unique.
The plot has sort of mild reprieves from the constant horror in form of flashbacks detailing the backstories behind a couple of the main characters and a few of the supporting characters. Most of these back stories are a mix of tragedy and horror and were pretty interesting. But one story really stood out to me, it's the story of a little boy who grows up in a "mannequin factory". It was equal parts emotionally moving and horrifying.
Surprisingly, the ending was much happier than I expected.
Recommended: This series is much more about the different horror scenarios than the Scifi. Again, it’s got almost nonstop extremely graphic gore, as well as many other disturbing scenes, so don’t read this unless you are a Horror fan looking for something on the extreme end. That being said, underneath it all, was a decent Scifi story.
Not Recommended: If you don’t have a strong tolerance for this sort of extreme gore and other nightmare fuel, do yourself a favor and skip this manga.
Age Rating: R: a lot of extremely graphic gore, some graphic rape and molestation
Other Works by this mangaka (from most to least popular): Fort of Apocalypse (evolved zombies), My Wife is Wagatsuma-san (Romance Comedy)
